There are many sites on the internet catering to military history in general and the First World War in particular. In no particular order we list some of the key sites that may be of interest to you:-

THE COMMONWEALTH WAR GRAVES COMMISSION

Their ‘Debt of Honour’ register is a good place to start to look for details of men who died in both world wars.

THE PUBLIC RECORD OFFICE

They hold an immense amount of original documentation. You may care to look at the PRO on-line index or at our index of some of the key documents you can find relating to the Royal Berkshire Regiment.

THE REGIMENTAL MUSEUM

The RGBW (Salisbury) Museum is housed in the Wardrobe, a 14^th century building in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral. You may care to look at their web site for information on the objects and records they hold, or on their on-line war diaries of the Royal Berkshire Regiment and the Wiltshire Regiment, or you may care to post a query in their guest book.

ANDREW TATHAM’S PHOTOGRAPH

Andrew started off with a photograph of the officers of the 8^th Royal Berks taken just before they embarked for France in 1915. He set out to research their fate and backgrounds and has come up with a surprising amount of fascinating information.

THE SALONIKA SOCIETY

The 7^th Royal Berks fought in Salonika for much of the First World War. This site provides background information on this theatre of war.
